Russell Stone (MA. Dip. Couns. Cert. Ed. IYN.)

Born 8th October, 1946, Norwich, Norfolk.

I was educated at Loddon Primary School (1951- 1957) in Norfolk and Wymondham College (1957-1963) also in Norfolk.

I left College early in order to enter show-business and subsequently worked in theatre, television, radio and touring as a session/studio singer.

With my late wife Joanne, I achieved success with the act ‘R & J Stone’ with the self-penned world-wide hit ‘We Do It’ in 1977. Following the death of Joanne in 1979, I concentrated on song writing for artistes such as Randy Crawford, and an incredibly eclectic body of studio work.  Producers I worked with included George Martin, Tommy LiPuma, Georgio Moroder, Michel Colombier and Henry Mancini. I have accompanied a wide variety of artistes including Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Adam Ant, Tony Bennett, Twisted Sister, Cliff Richard and Right Said Fred.

I stopped singing and writing in 1995 in order to concentrate on my counselling studies and set up my private practice as an Integrative counsellor in 1998.

I began teaching Counselling Skills and Diploma Courses at Farnborough College in 2000 and in order to do so studied for the Certificate of Education 2002-2002.

I studied for an MA in Transpersonal Psychotherapy 2002 – 2004, at CCPE in London, looking at the effect of the voice on the mind/body/spirit complex.

I incorporated sound into my work as a counsellor/psychotherapist with 1-2-1 clients and groups.
